The Oyster Bay Town Board recently recognized the poise and skill firefighters Robert Kaplan, William Sauberman, and Josh Kerr displayed in rescuing a Town resident in crisis.
On the afternoon of Sunday, January 6th, Captain Sauberman and Ex-Chief Kaplan, both of Southside Engine Company 5 and Firefighter Kerr of Woodbury Engine Company 3 acted swiftly and courageously when responding to an automatic carbon monoxide detector activation at an apartment complex in Woodbury.
As a direct result of their quick thinking and immediate actions, a senior citizen in distress was saved from a fire that had broken out in the apartment. Supervisor Saladino and the Town Board recognized and commended Captain William Sauberman, Ex-Chief Robert Kaplan and Firefighter Josh Kerr for demonstrating an ability to act quickly, bravely and skillfully when fellow citizens are in need.
